Are you one of those women who can’t journal? Either because you have no idea what to even write about or you just hate writing. I have and always will recommend to women that they journal.
And here is why...
Journaling has always been a safe place for me to release all that is going on within me. A place where I know that no one else will read some of the thoughts that go through my head. I encourage women to have a journal to write in so that they can release those positive or negative thoughts that they carry around with them on a daily basis. More for the fact that, as women, we seem to carry the negative with us and it creates a toxic environment on the inside that we have a harder time to defend against.
Journaling for me is about the words that I release. I can look back and see the patterns of thoughts that come and go. I can write down thoughts that anger me, have hurt me, or have created a lie within me that I may now believe. Words have power and the sooner we release those negative words from within, the more power we give back to ourselves to heal and mend the broken thoughts.
I have been lucky enough to have partnered with DiveThru. An AMAZING journaling app that has helped me with some major breakthroughs in the first Dive that I am working through. It has taken me a while to get through this Dive. There are days when the breakthroughs are quite significant and I can feel it for a couple of days afterward.

There are so many more options. You can choose from deep Dives or quick Dives. The deep Dives are a 14-day process and there smaller quick Dives that you can also do. The quick Dives allow you to dive into a topic that is important with what you are currently going through. The deep Dives allow you to do a more comprehensive exploration of what you are feeling.
Once you decide which Dive you want to work through, you will grab your journal and pen, get in a comfortable and quiet location, and get ready to Dive into your journaling session. I listen to each Dive with headphones because I find that the speaker has a quiet voice so it is easier to hear her with headphones on.
Before you begin the topic you chose, you will choose the emotion that you are feeling in the current moment. I am hoping that they will add a few more emotions soon because there are some days that I just can’t explain my emotions in the words that they have.
Once your emotion is set, you will have a choice of either a 6 minute, 12 minute, or 18-minute Dive to work through. I do the 6-minute option and find that it is usually enough time to get out what I need to. There have been days where I have had to pause the recording so that I can continue to journal because I have had a major breakthrough.
I love that this app combines guided breathing with guided journaling. Both of these go hand in hand and probably why I have had such amazing outcomes with this journaling app. You also journal in your physical journal which was a HUGE selling point for me. I prefer to write in a journal versus writing on my computer. You do have the option at the end of your Dive to type into your digital journal for the day about what you dove through that session. It also stores your journal entries so you can look back at them and see all of the work that you have done.
In a matter of 13 days doing this app and the Embracing Yourself Dive, I have learned things about myself that I really wasn’t expecting. Here are samples of my day 1 and day 12 of the Dive itself. These are the portions where the journaling happens at the end as a reflection of what you wrote in your actual journal. I went from thinking that in order to embrace who I was, certain people in my life needed to embrace me. I am now knowing that everything I need is within me. That despite what others think as being flaws, they are who I am and there is nothing wrong with that.
I believed that most of the time but there were some areas in my life that I truly struggled with and allowed those to sway my judgment. I am in a better headspace and I give myself more grace. I believe this is the combination of guided breathing with the journaling. I now take the time to reflect on what I wrote and this is when the breakthrough thoughts come to me.
